Opdracht

The Simulation Crew has developed a software platform (Iva) to build VR applications for Soft-skills training by means of virtual role-play with intelligent virtual agents. The system uses free speech; the player is free to say whatever he / she wants. Besides verbal input the system also detects non-verbal behavior such as look direction, pose, gestures and tone of voice. Verbal and non-verbal responses of the virtual agents are controlled by a rule-based system that takes into account various aspects such as conversational context and the agents emotional state. The system also scores player behavior on predefined competences in order to provide feedback after every game round. The Iva platform is already used to build VR Apps for Healthcare, higher education and public transport. See for more info: https://thesimulationcrew.com/iva/. The VR app measures behavior of the player and logs this data on a server. The goal of the project is to develop a learning analytics application that gives insight in behavior, scores / feedback and competence development over multiple game rounds. This can be used by the player to improve on skills but also for teachers / peers / tutors to reflect on behavior in the game.
